Blue Door Boutique opened in August 2008 and has become a cornerstone of Frisco’s Main Street Merchants, standing out for its uniqueness. Behind that bright blue door on Main Street in the heart of downtown Frisco is a boutique, which prides itself on an eclectic inventory and willingness to personally shop for everyone who enters. “We put our customers first,” says co-owner Glenda McMichael. “We are proud of our customer service.” Her business partner and co-owner, Joann Fritz states, “we are here to make our customers feel special, beautiful and happy.”
Inside you will find a distinctive inventory of items including women’s apparel, antiques, jewelry and a variety of gifts. “We are not your everyday boutique,” Fritz says. “We are a one stop shop.” As you walk around the boutique you will quickly realize you can shop head to toe for an outfit, including shoes, jewelry and a handbag while finding that perfect teachers gift and even a little something for your home.
Blue Door Boutique has a following of loyal customers who know the owners work hard traveling to different markets finding those special pieces you can’t find elsewhere in Frisco. McMichael says, “Picking one of a kind items is one of our strengths. We often hear customers say, ‘Wow! I’ve never seen anything like this before.’”
Fritz-McMichael realize boutique shopping can be difficult for those customers who can’t shop during their regularly scheduled business hours, so they frequently hold special events including Ladies Night Out. Blue Door will stay open late and entice customers with free giveaways, sales and fun with friends. They haven’t forgotten about the husbands either. Gift certificates are available to purchase for the husband who just doesn’t know what to get his wife.
The duo is well suited to run a business together. McMichael owned and operated Fingerprints Christian Preschool for two decades before selling the business to dedicate her time to Blue Door Boutique. Fritz runs a heating and air-conditioning business, Richardson Mechanical, with her husband. The pair became friends on the sidelines while watching their daughters play soccer. Over time, they acknowledged the fact they would make great partners and decided to make their dreams of owning a boutique a reality.
